No Dig Pipe Repair for Damaged Lines

Pipe relining is a pipe repair that puts a fresh lining inside the damaged pipe, with no digging. A cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) is a resin system on a fibrous or woven material. The liner is inflated inside a non-pressure drainage or sewerage pipe and cured in place, filling cracks and voids. Gardens, paths and driveways above the line stay intact.

Relining Jobs We Do Across Sydney

Pick the relining job that matches where the damage sits on your sewer or stormwater line:

  • Tree roots packed inside a broken clay sewer pipe

    Sewer Line Relining

Sewer relining restores the private sewer line, the drain that takes wastewater from your sinks, showers and toilets out to Sydney Water's wastewater pipes. Where digging suits the line better, sewer repairs dig up and replace the pipe instead. A licensed drainer or plumber does the job, because work on a drain connected to a sewer is draining work.

    Drain and Stormwater Lines

Our drain relining covers stormwater lines, the drains that carry roof and yard rainwater off your block. WaterMark Technical Specification (WMTS) 518 covers non-pressure drainage and sewerage pipes above and below ground, so a stormwater line sits inside its scope.

    Junction Repairs

When a branch joint cracks where a side line joins the main run, junction repairs seal that joint from inside the line. Sydney Water owns the junction on its sewer main, and the point of connection is the owner's responsibility.

    Patch Relining

Patch relining repairs just the damaged section when the camera finds one fault rather than a failing run, and it leaves sound pipe either side.

How Does Pipe Relining Work

Pipe relining cleans the line first, then sets a resin liner inside the old pipe, inflates it against the wall and cures it in place.

  • How a Liner Is Made

Each liner is a resin-soaked tube that hardens inside the old pipe as it cures. Each pipe size is written as DN (nominal size). WMTS-518 covers pipe sizes DN 40 to DN 1000, above and below ground.

  • Certified Liner Products

Liners under WMTS-518 need WaterMark Level 2 certification, a national product approval for plumbing and drainage products. The specification enables product certification under the national plumbing code. The Australian Building Codes Board publishes the WaterMark relining specification, which sets the rules these liner products are certified under. Each lining tube is marked with the maker's name, the date of manufacture or batch identification, a use-by date and the WMTS-518 number.

  • Licensed Installers Only

The specification requires installers trained by the liner maker or a registered training organisation, and licensed where the work is done. The maker's warranty states the limits of where the product applies.

Pipes That Suit Relining

One cracked pipe suits a liner while another still needs digging, and three checks show which is which:

  • Camera Before the Quote

A CCTV drain camera is the only way to know what's wrong without digging, so the camera goes in before any quote. That first look is our CCTV drain inspection, the full service that records the line.

  • Cracked or Broken Sections

The resin liner fills cracks and voids as it cures in place against the old pipe wall.

  • Roots Through Clay Joints

What's The Damage names older clay and earthenware lines as the pipes that crack at the joints and let tree roots in. High-pressure water jetting cuts the roots away from the pipe wall first, and our tree root removal page covers how far that clearing goes before the liner goes in.

Relining or Digging Up the Pipe

Relining and digging are both real fixes. Neither is a line item on the other's quote: each is a standalone project, priced on its length, depth and access. Our pipe relining vs pipe replacement guide weighs the two fixes side by side, including how long each lasts.

  • When Digging Still Suits

Digging and replacing suits a line outside the maker's stated limitations or the DN 40 to DN 1000 sizes. When digging and replacing suits the line better, our drain repairs cover that dig-and-replace work. Inside those limits, trenchless pipe repair needs no excavation.

Our Process

Every relining job moves through four steps:

  1. Camera and quote

We inspect the line first with our CCTV drain camera, then quote the job in writing before any work starts, on every job.
  2. Clean the line

The jet blaster is our high-pressure water jetter. It scours silt and grease off the pipe wall and cuts any tree roots back to the pipe wall.
  3. Install and cure

We reline the pipe by setting the resin liner inside it, inflating it against the wall and curing it in place, filling cracks and voids.
  4. The final check

We inspect the finished liner visually or by closed-circuit television, with every service entrance accounted for and unobstructed.

Pipe Relining Costs in Sydney

Relining or excavating a damaged run is quoted as one project, never as a line item on another job. The price climbs on the run's length, depth and access, because no two lines match. What's The Damage suggests keeping the camera recording, with the damage's location and depth marked, and taking it to at least two drainage specialists for itemised quotes. The written quote follows the camera inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Does Pipe Relining Cost in Sydney?

Pipe relining cost in Sydney depends on the damaged line's length, depth and access, and the written quote follows the camera inspection. Our pipe relining cost guide breaks down how each driver moves the price.

What Are the Disadvantages of Pipe Relining?

The disadvantages of pipe relining are the maker's stated limitations, the DN 40 to DN 1000 size range, and live junctions a liner can close until they're reopened. Insist on WaterMark Level 2 liners and trained, licensed installers.

Can Every Pipe Be Relined?

No, a pipe can be relined only when it's a non-pressure drainage or sewerage pipe from DN 40 to DN 1000, within the maker's stated limitations. Inside that scope, the resin liner cures in place with no trench.

Who Reopens the Junction After Relining?

Sydney Water sends its own relining contractor back to reopen a live junction that the relining left closed. A live junction is a branch that still carries waste.

How Do I Book Pipe Relining in Sydney?

One call to (02) 9158 3577 books your relining job. A real person answers around the clock and arranges a Same Day Service camera check before any quote.
